College of Marin - Adapted PE

On Tuesday 2/09/16 for 1 hour to meet Diana Scranton, get paperwork, take TB test, and completed Live Scan at the Police Department at College of Marin. Diana was very welcoming and showed where the adapted weight training class would take place. It was very easy and all those who have helped me, made the process quite simple.
On Thursday 02/11/16 for 1.5 hr, I joined the class to observe and meet students, because I could not physically work with students until Live Scan went through. I dropped off papers at Human Resources to complete the process of being able to participate in Service Learning at College of Marin. I was able to meet the assistants like Kyle, who has worked there for several years. I met lovely people who join adapted weight training like Carmel, Evelyn, Michelle, and Jonny Bear. I found true inspiration in them because of their motivation to work out and be active despite what disabilities they may have. I am excited to work more in depth with them. They are a joy to be around with many stories to tell me and even taught me some sign language. I look forward to be able to work with more exercises. I can see their true yearning to want to stay active and work out with how knowledgeable and independent they are about machines they use in adapted weight training.

Hi, Melissa,

It was wonderful to meet with you last week, and again, thank you for your willingness to volunteer with our Adapted PE program this semester.

I’m glad all went well with your TB screening and Live Scan. I was hoping to touch base with you after you brought your paperwork to Patrick in Human Resources Thursday but had a meeting across campus at noon. Did you submit your paperwork then, or are you planning to submit it to HR next Tuesday? If so, please be sure to have your Social Security card with you; Patrick has to get a visual of your card.

We’re looking forward to having you with us this semester. If you have any questions, please contact me: 485.9654, email: dscranton@marin.edu or via Give Pulse.

Have a lovely weekend,
Diana
