Worked on editing Jong's cookbook. Collaborated the notes taken by Mary and Macy to write the recipes we cooked and wrote down at the Friday cooking dinner at Jong's house. Korean BBQ, kimchi, and vegetables.
This day i learned the full set of korean drumming pattern. I finally learned the whole routine and got to practice teaching one of the new participants at Whistlestop. Her name was Norma
This was they cooking day at Jong's house. We learned how to cook lots of different vegetable recipes. I had the chance to start the fire for the korean barbecue meats. While the fire was starting, I went inside to help cook and mix the varies vegetable dishes. They recipes were fairly simple as we added ginger to most things, along with sesame oil and korean chili powder for spice. I was also pleasured to combine the ingredients for kimchi. My hands took the star role in all of the pictures that will be used for the cook book we are creating. My hands are seen cutting and holding the many different steps in the cooking process. After cooking we enjoyed the good food and Jong shared with us her stories of her travels around the world. She had been to many places where she was intrigued by the different drums people used. She had bought a tin drum that looked like a big water holder, but they people she had bought it from used it as a drum.. She also has big and small drums are played differently than the Korean drums. Along with these stories with good food, she shared with us her home made alcoholic beverages of ginseng and wine. She also shared with us traditional soju and rice wine. This was a fine dining experience as everything was made authentically delicious.
Today i learned more of the drumming routine as well as part of the basic dance steps we will be performing. It was fun as i learned i will be able to do a knife dance that the Korean men used to perform at ceremonies to ward off spirits.
